A Plant-Based Barbie is a Kinder Barbie

The final days of the school holidays, and the last week of Veganuary is the perfect time for a summer barbecue.

So how about we ‘spare the lamb’ and throw a plant-based burger on the barbie?

A barbecue is the perfect occasion to celebrate togetherness, and within that unity, we invite Aussies to also consider animals and the planet.

And what better time to consider a kinder barbecue than the end of January with just a few days left of Veganuary 2021, the worldwide movement supported by Fry’s.

The refreshing news is Australians are becoming more open-minded when it comes to considering a plant-based diet, whether it’s a decision based on health, saving animals, or the planet.

Australia was in the top 10 countries with the most sign-ups for Veganuary 2020, among over 400,000 participants globally. And Aussies were among the charge to bring the global figure to 440,000 people before Veganuary 2021 had even started!

We have the opportunity to continue to make change from our kitchen tables, or barbecues. We can also inspire friends and families to consider consuming kinder products.

But, how do you create the ultimate plant-based barbecue? It’s easy.

We live in a world with so many delicious and nutritious plant-based food options, with plenty of products to please vegans and non-vegans alike. Options for the barbie are therefore endless.

There isn’t anything more Aussie than prawns, so how about throwing plant-based Prawn Style Pieces on the barbie? Or even kebab skewers with Beef Style Strips, with a delicious marinade.

For a hearty barbie option, it’s hard to go past our Big Fry Burgers, which are packed with flavour and protein, and there’s plenty of recipe inspiration here.

Partner these delicious staples with side dishes like vegan potato salad, garden salad, warm greens like steamed broccoli, and of course your favourite drinks. That’s right, Fry’s plant-based meats taste great with Aussie favourites like beer and wine.

So, enjoy the Aussie barbecue as the institution it is, a wonderful place for togetherness, but let’s also consider animals and the environment as part of that togetherness.
